GiveBig to support WMS Music

Greetings Friends of Washington Music (FOWM) community members and supporters. We hope you all are enjoying Spring!

It has been an unusual year for both the world and the Washington Middle School (WMS) community. Through it all, our music teachers Hannah Gorham (choir and orchestra) and Mike Sundt (band) have done an incredible job of shifting to online teaching and keeping our students engaged with music. We have heard that for some students, music is the highlight of their day and has been a space for social connection during the pandemic.

FOWM's Mission is to support excellence and equity in music education for students at Washington Middle School. This year we have supported the music program in unique ways, based on the music teachers' innovative approaches to engaging students during the pandemic. We have provided financial support for special presentations by professional musicians, scholarships for lessons, and microphones for students to support their engagement with online learning and music production tools. We have also continued to support after-school programming, which has shifted on-line as well.

This year has also presented some challenges for FOWM fundraising efforts, given the fact that we are not able to engage with the community at live music performances. Because of this, we ask that you please consider a gift to FOWM to help us meet this year's fundraising goals and start strong in the 2021-2022 school year. We are hopeful that our music ensembles will once again be able to play together, and want to make sure that FOWM continues to be able to support equitable access to music education (including scholarships for private lessons) for ALL students at Washington who want to participate in music.
